Audacity is considered to be one of the best audio editors. It manages to achieve this due to the loads of excellent features it integrates while maintaining the toolbar and work space uncluttered. It can record and play sounds and import and export WAV, MP3, OGG, and AIFF files and also supports 32-bit floating-point audio. Basic effect such as reverb, delay, and compression are also included. To edit an audio file, you just need to select the required file. Once selected, it loads onto your screen and now you can edit the file with the aid of the mouse cursor and by keeping the duration scale as a reference. Using the effects tab, a variety of operations can be performed on the selected track after which the file can be saved in the desired audio format. Along with sound editing, audacity also features sound recording, which you can use to record uncompressed or external sounds.
